A LIFE-LONG PASSION

My love of chocolate started at a young age.

One of my favorite family traditions was waking up Easter morning and finding a basket filled with solid chocolate bunnies from Nora Arensberg’s Candy Shop in Brackenridge, PA. Arensberg’s was a staple of the community when my mom and her siblings were young. They would sell Arensberg candy for commission. Later, I had the privilege of working there and learning the art of hand dipped chocolates. I even met my husband through an out of town customer who set me up on a blind date with one of her son’s friends. We were married 7 months later, two years later, I had a baby and a degree from Old Dominion University.

CHANGES

A SHIFT AND AN OPPORTUNITY

Twenty months after that, our daughter arrived and through it all I managed to find time to work on a Master’s Degree and attend chocolatiering workshops and conferences to enhance my skillset.

Through it all, I had a dream of opening my own chocolate shop. We made a decision to move back to Pittsburgh after my father passed away in 2017.

As it happens so often in life, one decision can open doors that were previous closed.

A NEW BEGINNING

THE START OF SOMETHING SWEET

I have had the chance to work with a wonderful group of people at La Prima Espresso Co.’s roaster location and the world of coffee was opened up to me.

My La Prima experience convinced me that I could open my own shop and mix my old love of chocolate with another love of my life coffee.

Harvest Moon Coffee and Chocolates will feature local La Prima Espresso Co. coffee, espresso and hand-dipped, small batch candy using the finest Belgian dark and milk chocolates. Look for us to open in Tarentum 2020! We hope to see you there.
